2011-2012 WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATES ALL WEEKEND LONG ON piaadistrict3.org
District 3 strongly encourages parents, fellow students and fans to attend District 3 championship events to exhibit their support of student-athletes at the district’s 119 member schools. District 3 championships are moderately priced and contested at the best venues available in order to provide a professional setting and a memorable experience for our athletes.
However, the district realizes that not everyone who wishes to attend a championship event is able to do so. Thus, District 3 will provides updates of the District 3 Basketball Championships quarterfinal games and the District 3 Wrestling Championships on the District 3 website throughout the weekend. The district will also post final results of Class AAA Diving and the District 3 Bowling Championships as soon as possible.

BROOKS-FACKLER-HOWER AWARDS
The District 3 Committee annually recognizes student-athletes who display outstanding sportsmanship and academic excellence through two awards, the E. Jerry Brooks Academic Excellence Award and the Pete Fackler-Wendell Hower Sportsmanship Awards. The awards are presented by to deserving student-athletes at the District 3 Annual Meeting in April. This year’s annual meeting is Tuesday, April 17, at 8:30 a.m. at Hershey Country Club.

2011-2012 DISTRICT 3 BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2011-2012 District 3 Bowling Championships will be conducted this Saturday, Feb. 25, at Berks Lanes in Sinking Spring. This is the fourth year for the district-sponsored championship. A list of entrants appears below.

The District 3 Wrestling Championships will be conducted on Feb. 24-25 at Hersheypark Arena. The time schedule can be accessed here. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students for each session. One admission is good for all day Friday. Separate admissions for Saturday’s semifinal and championship rounds.

PIAA TEAM WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Boiling Springs placed second in the PIAA Class AA Wrestling Team Championships while Central Dauphin placed third and Mechanicsburg placed fourth in the PIAA Class AAA Team Wrestling Championships.
